Jammy fella bags Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award

Teenager Fraser Doherty was presented with Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award by Amenworld.com

Amenworld.com – the company that makes it simple for businesses to get started on the ‘net – presented the StartUps Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award at a dazzling award ceremony in London.

The award celebrates the achievements of the best UK start-up business owner under 30, and this year's winner was 18-year-old, Fraser Doherty from Edinburgh.

Doherty started modestly with a couple of pounds in his pocket - bought some fruit and sugar and made a few jars of jam using his Gran’s recipe. He then started selling at farmers’ markets and local delicatessens, and not before long he’d struck a six-figure deal with Waitrose to produce 120,000 jars of jam. Tesco’s been next in line to stock Doherty’s SuperJam.

Amenworld’s collaboration with StartUps to honour this young achiever has proved fruitful for SuperJam.

Andrew Fassnidge, Amenworld’s UK Marketing Manager who presented Doherty’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the StartUps Awards said, “Fraser Doherty’s success story is not a fairy-tale; it’s as achievable as it is inspirational. The award ceremony was held on the 31st October 2007 at the Royal Garden Hotels in London.

Dedicated Server Maintenance

In order to improve the performance of the platform on which our dedicated servers are installed, our technical team will carry out maintenance actions the platform on the 15th , 16th, 17th, 18th, 22nd, October 23rd, and 24th 2007 from 10 p.m (CEST). Only customers with dedicated servers will be affected, on one of these dates.

During these operations which will last the night, dedicated servers will be potentially unavailable. To know the date envisaged if you have a dedicated server, you can contact our customer services team by mail or telephone. However, taking into account the complexity of the operations, the date envisaged can be provided only as an indication and we will update information as if there is any change.

By safety measure, we advise you to carry out safeguards of your data and, of course, not to program and/or carry out any operation these nights. We thank you for your understanding.

Website Creator service

Service outage on Saturday 11th of August 2007

Dear Customer,

As you are probably aware we experienced a service outage on Saturday 11th of August which we would sincerely like to apologise for and explain.

The cause of this outage occurred in a data centre in Frankfurt where our servers are housed. This was caused by a network related issue.

Below is the full timeline of what occurred:

- Sat, 12:45 PM (GMT):
Frankfurt dedicated servers went down with a main router failure.

- 12:45 -> 01:30 :
Our support team immediately alerted the datacentre in Frankfurt.

- 01:50 :
The datacentre identified a network related problem, and immediately started on working to repair it.

- 06:00
After a number of attempts to reboot, they were unable to make the router come back up. The Frankfurt traffic was then re-routed to another datacentre in Dusseldorf in order for the problem to be fixed.

- 06:40
All servers became reachable again.

- 07:20
All servers were reached and all traffic went through Dusseldorf datacentre.

- Sun, 05:30 PM (Paris time): The router and Frankfurt datacentre returns to normal with traffic also resuming to normal levels.

This issue although regrettable was dealt with as quickly as possible and we would like to again sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused to you.

Nominet service interuption - .co.uk domains

Dear Customer,

Due to a technical upgrade by Nominet, the domain registrar, the .co.uk extension has been temporarily deactivated while this upgrade is carried out.

Amen will still accept all renewal orders from existing customers which will then be sent to Nominet after the upgrade is completed this week.

Unfortunately, customers will be unable to purchase new .co.uk domains until this work has been fully completed.

We are sorry for any inconvenience caused and will provide further news on the restoration of the service as soon as possible.
